Rural Transportation

The Northeast Rural Transportation System provides transportation for the general public, elderly and handicapped in our five county service area of Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Lawrence and Greenup counties. Elderly participants have the opportunity to be transported to Senior Centers for nutritious meals and socialization as well as grocery shopping, and other necessary needs. The service operates on a fixed call and demand response route. Service is offered Monday thru Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. There will be no service on New Year’s Eve, New Years Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Service is also subject to inclement weather.

The Rural Transportation System also provides intercity transportation to Morehead, Grayson, and Ashland with a minimal charge for each trip. This service is offered based upon adequate ridership. We operate our intercity routes on a demand response basis also. Cost of intercity trips are:  Morehead and Ashland are $5.00 and Grayson is $4.00.
