Housing Rehabilitation
Housing Rehabilitation assists income-qualifying homeowners with the cost burdens of needed repairs to bring the home up to code. Homeowners may receive rehabilitation work to their home that address health, safety, sanitation or handicap accessibility issues. Certain restrictions apply if the home is later sold or otherwise transferred.
With numerous homeowners living in substandard housing, this program improves the living conditions of the residents, and in most cases, will make the home more energy efficient, therefore reducing their heating and cooling bills. Cosmetic issues dealing with the home are not addressed under the housing rehabilitation program.
