Northeast, a non-profit Community Action Agency, is proud to say that we are making a difference in the lives of so many people in our service area. We are currently successful in programs of education, job training, social services and many other endeavors that are making our citizens more self-sufficient. We are now addressing social problems and barriers that were in the past unapproachable. Our goal is to assist our clients to break away from a cycle of poverty, a situation that many have lived in all their lives, and aid them to gain a sense of achievement and build self-reliance.  EEO Employer

Northeast was chartered as a Community Action Agency in May 1965 and dedicated to seek out and assist the neediest families in Carter, Elliott, Greenup, Lewis, Rowan and Morgan Counties. Several of these counties ranked as the lowest per capita income and highest unemployed counties in the State of Kentucky. The agency began with a core staff of seventeen and an initial grant of $95,000. After realignment to meet area development district boundaries, we now serve Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Greenup and Lawrence Counties.

Northeast operates over 20 programs to assist everyone from our youngest citizens to our seniors. Most programs are based upon individual or family income and attempt to make individuals and families productive, self-sufficient and contributing members of their community.
